    About Metrology Lab, Electric Loco Shed

    The Metrology Lab Electric Loco Shed was commissioned in December 1982 and since its inception the metrology lab has been working towards the refinement of the locomotive engines and their power efficiency. The performance of equipment’s is closely monitored by a plan, which is updated time to time in the Metrology lab itself. Reliability Action Plan has been prepared by analysing the past failures and taking into account modifications for improving reliability and availability of locomotives. Checklists have been prepared for recording values of different parameters of the equipment’s during overhauling/testing duly indicating the standard/normal value. Quality gangs have been formed for Electrical, Pneumatic & Mechanical equipment’s separately. The laboratory is set up in a commendable area and has access to top notch technology for calibration. Some of the services provided are the mechanical calibration of locomotive testing equipments such as mechanical power output gauge, fuel consumption gauge etc.
