    About Central Aquaculture Genetics Laboratory, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture

    Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture is a national society under Marine Products Export Development Authority, which looks after the export of fishes and other valuable marine products. It is the R&D branch situated in Tamil Nadu and works for the testing and analysis of the quality of the marine products. Its Central Aquaculture Genetics Laboratory is a well-equipped genetics laboratory with the facility to conduct cellular and molecular biology techniques. The laboratory is undertaking selective breeding programmes for the shrimp, scampi and tilapia. The laboratory performs PCR tests and molecular analysis tests, specially aiming at the genotyping of the various marine organisms.
