Materials Engineering Laboratory is a part of Tata Motors Limited and it provides various testing services mainly Chemical, Mechanical and Non-destructive testing. The laboratory is located in Pune, Maharashtra. Concerning Mechanical testing, it offers METALLOGRAPHY TEST (For Cast Iron, Steel, Stainless Steel, Copper & Aluminium Alloys & Ferrous and nonferrous materials). It provides testing of MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS such as Rebound Hardness, Vickers Hardness, Rockwell Hardness, Brinell Hardness, Tensile Test, Charpy “U” Notch test and Drawability Test for steel sheets and also PROPERTIES OF POWDER METALLURGICAL PRODUCTS are tested viz. Case Depth Measurement (Hardness Traverse Method) for Case Hardened Steel. Chemical tests for Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Ni, Zn, Sn, Pb, Mo etc are also done for METAL & ALLOYS ( Plain Carbon and Low Alloy Steels, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Cu Base Alloy, Al Alloy. Tests are performed by field experts under best facilities using modern instruments. This laboratory has the accreditation of NABL.
