    The laboratory provides chemical and mechanical tests for the quality analysis of metals and alloys (steel, bitumen, concrete), cement (OPC & PPC) and construction water. It is a one-stop shop for all the civil engineer’s need. High quality accurate testing of the various materials is done in the laboratory. Chemical tests to check for the content of phosphorus, silicon and sulphur in steel samples; silica, lime, insoluble residue in cement samples and suspended matter and inorganic solids in construction water are conducted in the lab. Beside the wide range of chemical tests, the laboratory also supports an enormous range of mechanical tests to provide a complete package for the testing of construction materials. Some of the mechanical tests offered include the tests for the quality check of Cement (Standard Consistency, Density), Coarse and Fine Aggregates (Crushing Value, Flakiness Index, Elongation Index, etc.), Brick (Compressive Strength, Water Absorption, Efflorescence) and Soil (Atterberg ™s Limit, Free Swell Index, Proctor Compaction, California Bearing Ratio, etc.) Materials tested in this laboratory can be reliably used for the construction work.
