About National AIDS Research Institute, Proficiency Testing (PT) Unit
The National AIDS Research Institute [NARI] was founded in Bhosari, Pune, on a 7-acre plot in October 1992. The Institute has founded itself over the past two decades as a leading research institute dedicated to HIV infection and AIDS. The Institute has contributed to the battle against HIV and AIDS through quality studies that includes clinical research to optimize therapy and care, develop and test new prevention modalities and generate fresh data on HIV biology in the context ofHIV-1 subtype C infection prevalent in India.
In its operations, the Institute has ably endorsed the National AIDS Control Program, particularly in monitoring, capacity building, laboratory facilities and drug resistance. The Institute derives power from the vast array of national and international collaborations.
Their goal is to attain HIV spread control and care for the HIV-infected population (Care, Treatment & Vaccine) and to attain zero new diseases, zero AIDS fatalities and zero discrimination. Their Vision is Building a distinctive study capacity to address the increasing HIV / AIDS challenge in India. Their mission is to develop study projects that interface with intervention and policy development in order to avoid and regulate the spread of the HIV / AIDS epidemic.
