About National Centre for Automotive Testing (NCAT), Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE)
The largest and one of the most significant initiatives in the automotive sector so far, National Centre for Automotive Testing represents a unique joining of hands between the Government of India, a number of State Governments and the Indian Automotive Industry.Their aim is to create a state of the art Testing, Validation and R&D infrastructure in the country.
They also aim to establish core global competencies in the automotive sectorand facilitate seamless integration of the Indian Automotive Industry with the world and also to position the country prominently on the global automotive map.
The organization has seven centers operating under it which are in Manesar, Chennai, Ahmednagar, Pune, Rae Bareilly, Silchar and Indore.
The services and infrastructure possessed by each are as follows:-
Testing and homologation facilities in Pune, Ahmednagar, Chennai, Manesar and Haryana.
Testing tracks on 4,098 acres of land in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
A Centre for Testing and Homologation of Tractors, Agricultural Vehicles and Off-Road Vehicles together with accident data analysis and specialized driving training center in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, a National Specialized Hill Area Driving Training Centre at Dholchora, Silchar, Assam, and an Inspection and Maintenance Station for in use vehicles and Mechanics Institute in Jaffirband, Silchar, Assam.
