    About Ordnance Factory, Muradnagar

    Ordinance Factory, Muradnagar, comes under the National Ministry of Defence, which came into existence prior to independence in 1943. They specialise in manufacturing metallurgical products like casting steel which is used for production of various bombs, armours, tanks etc. They have a testing facility to ensure that the quality of the products are up to the mark since these products are of great significance for the defence industry. This facility provides mechanical, metallographic, chemical and non-destructive testing. They undertake many mechanical tests like tensile test, bend test, vikers hardness test, brinnel hardness test, Rockwell hardness test and impact tests. Metallographic testing involves microscopic examination and macroscopic examination. For NDT the castings produced undergo radiography. This governmental laboratory has a great responsibility to ensure that the arms and ammunitions of the defence sector comply with optimum standards and there are no chances for any malfunctions.
