    About Pesticide Residue Laboratory, National Plant Quarantine Station

    Pesticide residue Laboratory in Rangpuri is a body functioning under the ministry of agriculture. The objective of this laboratory is inspection and testing of imported agricultural commodities to avoid introduction of exotic pests which can cause damage to the crops and can induce many sorts of diseases. They undertake quarantine inspection to ensure that crops are of optimum quality and the pesticides used do not cause major damage to the crops and is used within the permissible limit. The National quarantine facility in Rangpuri specialises in conducting chemical tests on food items such as fruits and vegetables. They test these items for containment of pesticides such as organochlorine, organophosphates and synthetic pyrethroids. This laboratory strives to eliminate any kind of dangerous pest which can hamper crops and aims to regulate pesticide use which can change chemical composition of agricultural items
