About Pesticide Residues Analysis Laboratory, Regional Plant Quarantine Station (RPQS)
Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine & Storage was established in the year 1946 on the recommendation of Woodhead Commission as an apex organization for advising the Government of India and state governments on all matters related to plant protection.
There are two regional Pesticide Residues Analysis Laboratories in Kanpur and Chandigarh respectively.
National Pesticides Reference Repository (NPRR)
NPRR was considered essential and approved during the XI Five Year Plan for developing, standardizing and providing Certified Reference Material (CRM)/reference standards to pesticides testing laboratories for bringing uniformity in the use of such standards and more accuracy and efficiency in monitoring quality of pesticides.
National Pesticides Investigational Laboratory (NPIL)
NPIL was considered essential and approved during the XI Five Year Plan for investigations concerning the lacing of bio-pesticides with chemical pesticides and investigations on pesticides imported illegally, method development & validation for newly introduced pesticide molecules and randomly verifying the test results of the analysts of all pesticides testing laboratories.
Both the laboratories are NABL approved.
