Spices Board of India functions under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India with the sole aim of development and promotion of all Indian Spices across the globe. For improvement in the spices that are being exported and sold, they require to conform to some pre specified standards to ensure optimum quality and hence it has established a number of testing facilities to evaluate the spice produce of the country. All the laboratories are equipped with world class technologically advanced testing equipment. One of its laboratory is situated in NaviMumabai, Maharashtra which specialises in chemical testing of spices. The test undertaken in the laboratories check the spices for the containment of aflatoxin, ochratoxin, volatile oil, capsaisin, curcumin, colour value and many others. Spices Board came into existence in 1987 and its dedication towards delivering quality to customers since inception, has resulted in extensive and effective export promotion.
