Under the act APGM 1937, 22 Regional testing laboratories have been established to formulate standards and conduct physical and chemical analysis of agricultural and allied commodities. One of these labs is situated in Delhi which specifically carries out chemical testing of milk and dairy products. Delhi lab has state of the art facilities and modern technology which makes it adept for setting standards for this particular agricultural produce. Milk and dairy products like butter and ghee have to undergo tests like Baudouin test, test for free fatty acid, test for RiechertMeissl value, Polenske value and others. These laboratories are set up by directorate of market and inspection which comes under the aegis of ministry of agriculture and farmer’s welfare and therefore have a great responsibility to ensure quality of agricultural produce
