Regional Laboratory, Textiles Committee has the largest chain of 17 textile testing laboratories across India, out of which 14 are accredited as per ISO/IEC 17025. As per Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) of International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC), the test reports issued by these laboratories are recognized by major importing countries. Textiles Committee was the first to open at 9 major textile centres to test eco parameters after the impose of ban on certain carcinogenic azo dyes by Germany and other European countries. The ECOMARK scheme of BIS has been developed in collaboration with laboratories of Textiles Committee. Laboratories take up testing of Textile items viz., fibre, yarn, fabric, garments, made ups for testing of various physical, mechanical, chemical and ecological parameters.
