Electrical Research and Development Association (ERDA), a non-profit professional association enrolled under the company law and public trust created under the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner is supported with CSIR assistance from the Government of India, and a government subsidy from Gujarat by the Electrical Industries and a few public utilities. On the territory supplied by the Gujarat govt, ERDA was created in Vadodara free of price. In three business verticals, ERDA facilities are given: "Testing & assessment," "Field Services" and "R&D & Expert Services." The ERDA headquarters in Makarpura, Vadodara and three location laboratories, ERDA (northern) in Gurgaon, ERDA (west), Rabale & ERDA, Rajahmundry, have a state-of-the-art headquarters situated on 25 acres to satisfy its clients in multiple regions in India.
To guarantee complete freedom and independence in ERDA's activities, the leadership structures of the organization were formulated. Including four representatives, from government services (GETCO, PGVCL, DGVCL, & GIPCL), two private utilities (Tata Power and Torrent Power) and 12 industrial representatives (ABB, ALSTOM, SIEMens, L&T, BHEL, etc.) in the current eighteen Member Management Committee of the ERDA. The current president of ERDA is a candidate from the GETCO. A total of three government nominees are available for the management committee of ERDA, concerning the eighteen electing representatives. The Managing Committee currently has two nominees from the Government of India, a Representative of CSIR and the Commissioner for Industry and the Government of Gujarat, on its behalf.
