About State Level Water Testing Laboratory, Chennai
A legislative organ, constituted under the TWAS Board Act of 1970 of 14.04.1971, is the
Tamil Nadu Box for Water Supply and Drainage (Board of TWAD). TWAD is responsible for
the State of Tamil Nadu, except the Metropolitan Development Area of Chennai, for the
development of water supply and sewerage. In order to include the maintenance of major
CWSS, the TWAD Board extended its horizons of service further.
Headquartered in Chennai the President, Water Supply & Sanitation Organization (WSSO), is
a key partner of the NRDWP. The WSSO has a full-scale CCDU to disseminate information
and to improve capacities in the water and sanitation sector. The Wing (Mega Project
Monitoring Wing & Operation & Directors), the Project Development Cell (PDC), Project
Management (PM), Contract Management (CoM), the Wing of the Mega Project Monitoring
Wing & Operation Management (O&M).
The 32 water quality laboratory testing facilities network across the country (1 state level
and 31 district level) help ensure the safety of water for the general public. This state lab's
Field Water Testing Kit is widely used across the country on a community level and
promotes awareness about the quality of water and health effects.
