They are entrusted with very crucial responsibilities which includes the country’s public infrastructure projects. Therefore, they are bound to project superior standards than rest of the companies in this field. To ensure that they have established testing facilities, one of which is located in their Visvesvaraya Iron and steel plant, in Karnataka. There, chemical, mechanical and non-destructive testing is conducted. Metals, alloys and other metallic products are subjected to chemical and mechanical tests to examine their chemical and mechanical properties. Metals alloys and forgings are subjected to NDT for their ultrasonic examination.
