Central Silk Technological Research Institute was established in the year 1983 by the Central Silk Board of Indian Government and is located in Bangalore Urban, Karnataka. The research work performed at Central Silk Technological Research Institute primarily focus on improving the quality and productivity, providing better services to the silk industry, development of the enterprise, and market information dissemination. The perform research of all the four major commercial varieties of Silk-like mulberry, taser, muga, and eri. The Textile testing laboratory at Central Silk Technological Research Institute has a physical testing and chemical testing, both of which have received ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation from the NABL. The physical testing facility offers testing facilities for fiber testing, yarn testing, and fabric testing. It also tests for various eco-parameters like checking for the presence of any banned aryl amines, heavy metals in textiles, and many other such factors.
